My view on the economy is that the media needs to keep out of it. To me is seems that the media likes to keep things in an uproar so they like to over-exaggerate things. I'm not saying that things are not bad, but sometimes the media creates chaos. I also feel that our stock market was so overinflated that it had to regulate itself. We could not go at the growth rate that we were without repercussions.
I also think that high executives over-inflated stock prices to make more money. I'm not really seeing a difference between what the executives at Enron did and the top execs of the companies that are failing today did. Personally I feel that these execs stole from their stock holders and their employees, and now they are stealing money from the American people by taking tax payer money and still paying outrageous bonuses to retain these "quality" people that have run the companies in the ground. I have never heard of rewarding a person for not doing there job. If I own a company and an employee doesn't do their job they lose their job, they sure as heck don't get a raise and bonus.
Also, I don't think that the government should have stepped in when they did. If they would have let the first company go down, no other company would have even hinted at the possibility of failing. This is a country of free enterprise, not government controlled companies. Right now the government has too much say so and control over private companies. Also I don't think that to keep throwing money into these companies especially without very strict rules as to what the CEO's can do with the money, which should have been not to pay ANY bonuses, as well as cutting top pay and expenses, not cutting lower jobs, was not a smart idea. The government, although may be well intended, but to me they are going about it backwards. They cannot try to keep the life boat floating with a small band-aid when in fact it needs a full body cast. The way to get our economy growing again is to have more people working, which means to create more jobs, in turn, that means that we as a country needs to actually make products. We cannot be a service country and not make products. If the government wants to give money and incentives to American companies it needs to be for companies that make products in THIS country, not one that imports its products. I think that what we have done to future generations is outrageous.
If you are reading this then you must want to read my thoughts and I hope that you understand why I feel the way that I do. Also help support America and buy American and buy local, if the government can't stimulate our economy then it is up to us as Americans to take our country back and grow it ourselves.
